Innovators in Music is a new series of documentary profiles on six dynamic musicians from a variety of genres and backgrounds. Each half-hour episode explores how the creative impulse extends beyond music-making and into other realms of artistic pursuit. From photography and painting, to politics and bonsai, the series examines the surprising and inspiring world of six Innovators in Music. The world premiere is January 7 2010 and will feature Steve Earle.
In the premiere episode, American Singer-Songwriter Steve Earle candidly addresses many of the subjects related to his passions: songwriting, Townes van Zandt, the elusive nature of art and love, drug addiction and the death penalty. His solo performance at Knoxville's Bijoux Theatre is featured prominently throughout the program.
